Hij ging spreken bij automobielfederatie Febiac en liet zich rondleiden bij autogroep Stellantis, bekend van merken als Peugeot, Citro\u00ebn, Alfa Romeo, Fiat of Opel. \u201cMensen hebben hun auto simpelweg nodig om te gaan werken, hun kinderen te vervoeren of boodschappen te doen. Ik zal automobilisten nooit viseren.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cPolitici moeten geen technische keuzes maken in de plaats van de automobielsector\u201d, zei Bouchez voor een volle zaal bij Febiac. \u201cZe hebben de kennis daar niet voor. Wel kunnen ze doelstellingen vastleggen, bijvoorbeeld op het vlak van CO2 en fijne stofdeeltjes. Ik ben voor het principe van technologische neutraliteit, waarbij de auto-industrie zelf met oplossingen komt volgens de objectieven die de politiek vastlegt. Het was dwaas van Europa om vanaf 2035 een verbod op verbrandingsmotoren in te voeren, al is die beslissing intussen een beetje teruggeschroefd. Honderd procent elektrisch rijden is niet realistisch en klanten moeten kunnen blijven kiezen. De Europese auto-industrie was nummer \u00e9\u00e9n in de wereld, maar door verkeerde politieke beslissingen moeten we nu tegen China opboksen, dat wereldwijd 70% van de elektrische wagens produceert.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In Brussel proberen de partijen Les Engag\u00e9s, PS, Ecolo en D\u00e9Fi intussen verkiezingsoverwinnaar MR buitenspel te zetten om een linkse regering te vormen. Een coalitie die in onze hoofdstad een automobilistentaks wil invoeren. Die het dramatische groene mobiliteitsplan <em>Good Move<\/em> wil voortzetten. Die de lage-emissiezone (LEZ) strikt wil doorduwen, waardoor mensen hun oudere wagen niet meer zullen mogen gebruiken. \u201cWie in Brussel werkt, kinderen naar school of activiteiten moet brengen of boodschappen wil doen, zal met al die beslissingen worden bestraft\u201d, zegt Bouchez. \u201cAutomobilisten mogen niet worden lastiggevallen met nieuwe belastingen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Zoals elke keer ging de MR-voorzitter op het salon kijken naar de stands van de constructeurs. Bij autoconcern Stellantis kreeg hij een rondleiding door de ceo en het management. Hij besprak met hen de grote uitdagingen waarvoor de Europese auto-industrie staat.
